DEBORAH KING (director)
Deborah King (director) is thrilled to be making Birth her first theatrical endeavor in the Seattle area, her new home.
Deborah was a nonstop presence in the Chicago theatre scene from Curious to Steppenwolf until the birth of her first son. Since that time, most of her creative focus has been on mothering her children and empowering other women through her pre-and-post natal yoga classes, although she did appear as Regan in Vitalist Theatre Company’s acclaimed production of King Lear, and directed Carrying/ Holding, a piece written and performed by three pregnant women, profiled in Motherverse magazine.
Deborah's directing credits include Thunder Road Ensemble’s Ontological Proof of my Existence, which garnered a Joseph Jefferson Award recommendation, and film credits include the cult favorite Spaceman and last year’s indie hit Casting About.
Deborah is fortunate to have had beautiful natural births with both of her sons, Griffin Campbell, 6, and Kiran Uriel, 17 months, and wishes for a world in which each woman’s needs can be respected.
She lives on Vashon with her beloved husband, Bill Mann, and their fabulous boys.
